Nagarhope’s overall design for developing our site in Gurung Gaun incorporates a small sized football pitch which will be able to host seven-a-side games of football or indeed any other field sport. Apart from the football pitch plan, we are also including smaller sporting areas such as table tennis, volleyball / badminton as well as a general play area for children. Extracurricular activities are lacking for children in the village, in fact, very little is organised by schools either. We have run competitions in schools on make-shift pitches. The idea of our sports ground will be to host tournaments and competitions in the future and to have an area where any age group can come to play, pursue their interests and talents, and most importantly, keep fit whilst doing so. We even hope to establish the first Nepali Gaelic football and Hurling academy!!
