The four brave cyclists are nearly there – just three more days cycling to complete 1,170km across Nepal. They are tired and sore but still smiling in all those great photos on Nagarhope’s facebook page. I just spoke to Doc a few minutes ago (Wed. 24th 6.30pm Nepal time). They were just arriving at their destination so he sounded very weary. They are back on off-roads again, just dirt tracks for a good part of today. He had two punctures in one day during the week but overall, there have been very few hitches.

Earlier this week, they made the front page headlines on Ritambhara Daily newspaper, with a great photo. This week too, in a local school, they were entertained with dancing and singing by the pupils.

They have two more full days of cycling, then 10km on the third and final day to reach the border. Spirits are high but bodies are weary! Doc sends greetings and thanks to all his loyal supporters, near and far.

Here at home, plans for our “Spin” event are taking shape. This will happen on Saturday 10th February at SuperValu, Lucan from 9am to 6pm. In relay, our volunteers will “spin” (cycling on stationary bikes), trying to cover the same 1,170km. Hopefully, Lenny, one of the brave four cycling in Nepal, will be there with photos, videos, stories though I am sure there are some stories which will be left untold!!

So far, we have had a great response for spinners and collectors but we do need a few more. Spinners will spin for about 20/30 minutes. Collectors will collect for an hour . If you can help out in any way, please contact Niamh on 087 0666891 or Tadhg on 087 9225103.
